I had the most incredible experience on Thursday night. I had the privilege to share with my brother-in-law and his wife the labour and birth of their fourth child - a son. Weighing in at just 5 lbs 14 oz (after feeding for an hour!) he was born at 4:10am BST.
There is much about the experience that is obviously just too personal to share with the entire world. However, the idea of being there for women in labour - particularly those who have no one else to stand beside them - has been on my heart for more than a decade. I feel like Thursday night's experience was a confirmation that this was indeed something that would be part of my life from time to time in the future.
I pray I will be so honoured and blessed.
